"Going to the wood is going home." -John Muir
Down To Earth is about 45 acres of magical land located in mid-south Kentucky, on the Little South Fork River, in Boone National Forest. We are forming a land trust/non profit organization dedicated to teaching of sustainability and stewardship of the land. DownToEarth is a nature sanctuary, "back to the land" retreat area, festival grounds, a campground and hands-on learning center for homesteading skills.
As an off-the-grid nature retreat, we offer primitive camping, BiB (bed in the barn), a fully equipped barn summer kitchen, outhouses, springs and filtered water, bonfires, sweat lodge area, caves, nature walks, river fun, great hiking and neighborhood attractions (Lake Cumberland, Big South Fork Recreational Area with Cumberland and Yahoo Falls, Picket State Park, natural bridges, rock houses, caves and horseback riding galore...)
We have two regular events a year:
DowntoEarth Day Family Reunion - last weekend of April, around Earth Day
New Year Eve Burn, bonfire celebration on New Years Eve/Day.
2016 Fall event: DownToEarth Goddess Retreat, Sept 30 - Oct 2
The grounds are available to host other events the rest of the year.
